Duvet

Simple tools for a simple project: pins, thread scissors and fabric.

So the chair I am creating a slip cover for has taken me over three months to complete and the sad part is I'm still not done. So instead of having this creative block for months, I've decided to put it aside and start something new. Not only start, but finish something. So here it is a duvet for Dylan's crib. I got inspired when I saw a friends duvet, which was way more complicated with pipping and all. Special thanks to Ami for inspiring me to do something for my little girl.

Helpful hints when making your own duvet:

  1. Use like fabrics. When sewing them together different fabrics can stretch differently, which will make your duvet uneven.

  2. Pin pin pin. Make sure before sewing you pin your fabric. You'll be glad you did.

  3. Remember to leave an opening large enough for your comforter to fit into it.

  1. dear material girl,
very inspiring stuff here. note about that last picture: looks like you have diagonal doorways connecting separate rooms. that either a nice interior design touch or a wacky lens. either way all very entertaining. love the fabric. its just fabrilous!
