Belt it out

I got this fabric in Japan, the great part is the pattern is in every direction, so the belt can be made any way possible. It will never be upside down. The belt loop I got from my grandma's stash. Thank you Ying Ying!

Everyone knows Asian girls don't have booty, so of course my baby girl has no booty (even with a diaper). Joline calls it, "an extended back." So all her pants don't stay on because her butt won't hold it up. So the only solution is to make baby girl some belts. I've gone to some baby stores and of course they don't make belts for babies. They make overalls. Wow how inventive.

Ok so the belts are easy to make all you'll need are:

fabric (six inches longer then your babies waist and four inches width)
scissors
iron
needle
thread
belt loop

The project can be done by hand which is the great part. Just fold your fabric in half, width wise. Then fold in the edges toward the crease of the fold you just made and then smash it together like a sandwich. This will give your belt a good thick feel. Iron and sew along all the edges. Just remember to fold in the length ends to give it that clean look. Sew one end to the belt loop and you are DONE! How easy is that and you don't even need a sewing machine! Let me know how it goes.

Candy Cane Reinvented

My brother and his wife are having a Jack and Jill baby shower. It's the modern day baby shower where everyone is invited, men, women and children. So my co-host, Steffani and I thought it would be nice to have something for the kids that are coming. I have no idea what the age range is, so I spent the day trying to figure out what kind of goodie bag to put together. I remembered going to some ice-cream shop and they had these hand-made candy cane's which I thought were genius! So here is my attempt at replicating. The sad part is I can't even remember the store we went into years ago to see what they look like again.

I got the candy sticks from Michael's, the bags online and the candy from the Dollar Store and Target. What doesn't work are hard candies like Jujube's and jelly worms. They are to thin for the stick. If you were using a skewer, it would work, but I wouldn't recommend sharp tips for kids to eat off of. The whole project took about half an hour for a dozen candy cane's. Let me know if you try this and how it goes.

End result... The candy canes were a hit! The kids ate them then and there. The down side is that the taffy melted in the hot summer weather! Note to self and to others, if you are making this project in the summer, don't pick anything that could melt easily, BIG mistake.

Clean Living..Room

My generous co-worker, Christine, graciously offered her son's toy organizer to me and of course I said, YES! If you have ever seen my living room, you would have jumped at the chance too. My first actual finished job since I don't know when. I hope this will get the ball rolling on the creativity tip.

Why did it take me an hour to figure out that when you load before and after pictures you have to load the after first and the before last? The sad part is I didn't figure that out on my own. My cousin-in-law saw me whining to myself while banging my head on the table and asked me what was wrong and he had to tell me about the order of picture loading. Eeeerrr....Thank you for the help Nigel!

Picture This

So my dear friend, Kathleen, took this awesome picture of a strawberry and I wanted to make it my header. Since I'm just learning this stuff, I can't make it look right??? Uggghhh. I will keep playing with it until I get it right. Wish me luck! =)

One hour later... Found another cute picture from Kathleen's flickr account and found out you have to alter the picture prior to uploading to your blog. Good to know. Hope this info helps someone.

Day Oner

So, my husband told me if I wanted to quit my job and later decided to go back to work my job skills will be obsolete. So, of course that got me thinking. I need to get up with the times and learn something new before I can't learn anything new and I just have random brain farts. So far it's been an easy process since I have a Gmail account. Woot woot!

The fun part is coming up with the web address. I used to have a garbage pail kid with my name on it and her name was Spacey Stacy. She's awesome. So the address is an ode to her.
